Post: Advanced Ballistics Analysis System (ALIAS) debuts in Malaysia and ASEAN region

June 10, 2024, Advanced Ballistics Analysis System (ALIAS) from Pyramidal Technologies Ltd., in partnership with Active Telematics Sdn. Bhd. announced availability of its product in Malaysia and ASEAN region.

ALIAS incorporates cutting-edge 3D technology developed by Pyramidal’s Swiss team, who are experts in optical measurement for industrial quality control. The core of this innovation lies in the custom-made 3D sensors used in our interferometers, which are specifically designed for forensic ballistics applications. These 3D sensors, manufactured in Switzerland, are among the most accurate and fastest non-contact sensors in the world. They are capable of capturing the intricate “fingerprints” left on expended cartridge cases and fired bullets by firearms, enabling precise registration and analysis as part of the legal domain. The interferometer itself is a highly complex instrument, consisting of 109 components (324 if you include screws), some of which are quite sophisticated on their own, such as the 3D camera and servo drivers. By performing the assembly in-house, we have better control over quality, ensuring that every screw is secured with lock tight for maximum reliability. One of the key improvements in this latest generation of ALIAS is the integration of Mireau type interferometer optics from Leica Microsystems. Although expensive, these optics are essential for the precise scientific instrument we are building to help solve more crimes, convict more criminals, and save more lives. Additionally, the interactive 2D optics have been enhanced with a new lighting system. This system combines direct lighting from the top and dark field illumination from the side, with the dark field illumination further segmented into 8 individually switchable directions. In total, the new 2D lighting comprises 42 small SMD components on a PCB, allowing for more sophisticated lighting effects in the live view mode when examining bullets within ALIAS’s interferometer prior to scanning. By incorporating these cutting-edge technologies, developed by our Swiss team of experts, ALIAS continues to push the boundaries of ballistic evidence capture and analysis, providing law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to effectively combat crime and uphold justice.
